A website drawn like a drawing set

Arch. Gasparini is an architecture and interior design studio in Olgiate Comasco, working across Lombardy, Canton Ticino and Veneto. I conceived, designed and engineered its new website.

Why it exists

An architect's best work is often private: homes and offices under non-disclosure. The site had to feel as precise as the studio's drawings, present a small number of public works properly — and still make the confidential archive count.

What I did

Everything from the first sketches to production code: four rounds of design sketches with alternatives, a locked design system, the Next.js front end and its motion, and the CMS schema the studio edits.

The drawing set as interface

Pages are sheets — TAV. 01 / 04 — with title blocks, project codes and corner register marks. Typography does the rest: a display serif with italic accents, a grotesk for reading, a monospace for every piece of metadata. Hierarchy comes from weight, size and opacity; colour is reserved.

Showing the work you can't show

Projects under NDA stay in the catalogue as terracotta-marked capsules — named by sector and region, their interior sheets withheld. The only colour on the site marks what's confidential.

One pinned scene

Selected works run as a horizontal track driven by vertical scroll. The track measures itself on resize so the last card lands flush, becomes a static strip under reduced motion, and a native snap strip on phones.

Italian first, properly bilingual

Localized paths (opere ↔ works), hreflang and canonicals generated from one route map, and CMS fields that hold both languages side by side.

How it works

Server-rendered pages in Italian and English, content from a headless CMS with both languages in each document, and forms handled by server actions.
